About Implant & Oral Surgery of Columbus

Implant & Oral Surgery of Columbus provides specialized oral and maxillofacial surgical care for patients throughout Columbus and the surrounding communities. Our practice combines advanced surgical training, modern technology, and a patient-first approach to deliver care that prioritizes comfort, clarity, and long-term oral health.
Established in the 1980s, the practice has served Central Ohio for decades. In 2022, Dr. Chintan Patel assumed ownership of the practice and continues to maintain its longstanding commitment to advanced surgical excellence while strengthening its focus on compassionate, accessible patient care.

A Practice Built on Experience and Trust

Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires extensive education and hospital-based surgical training beyond dental school. As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Patel manages a wide range of conditions affecting the mouth, teeth, jaws, and facial structures. His clinical interests include dental implant surgery, wisdom teeth removal, corrective jaw surgery, bone reconstruction procedures, and the diagnosis and treatment of facial pain, infections, and facial trauma.

Patients are cared for in a professional setting designed to support safety and comfort. Dr. Patel is fully trained in procedural intravenous sedation and outpatient general anesthesia. All patients are continuously monitored before, during, and after surgery using advanced equipment comparable to that found in hospital operating rooms. The facility has been inspected and approved by the Ohio State Dental Board for the administration of outpatient anesthesia.

      Our Mission and Core Values

At Implant & Oral Surgery of Columbus, our mission centers on providing surgical care that is clear, compassionate, and grounded in advanced surgical excellence. Every treatment plan is developed with respect for the individual needs, concerns, and long-term goals of each patient

Our Care is Guided by Five Core Values

      • Compassion We recognize that oral surgery can feel overwhelming. Our team prioritizes empathy, reassurance, and patience at every stage of care.
      • Honesty Patients deserve clear explanations, realistic expectations, and transparent communication about treatment options and outcomes.
      • Excellence Surgical precision, continued education, and adherence to best practices guide every procedure we perform.
      • Innovation We invest in modern technology and techniques that improve accuracy, efficiency, and patient comfort.
      • Accessibility We strive to make specialized oral surgery care approachable and understandable, supporting patients before, during, and after treatment.

      Advanced Technology for Thoughtful Care

Modern dental technology plays an important role in treatment planning and surgical precision. Digital imaging and advanced scanning tools allow for accurate assessment of bone structure, tooth position, and surrounding anatomy. These tools support efficient workflows, reduce unnecessary appointments, and help improve surgical outcomes.

Technology is used thoughtfully as part of a larger commitment to individualized care, careful evaluation, and predictable results.

A Team Focused on Patient Experience

Our surgical assistants are experienced, highly trained, and play an active role in supporting patient comfort during procedures. They assist with anesthesia monitoring and surgical care while maintaining a calm, professional environment. All surgical team members are certified in CPR and AED use.

Our administrative staff works closely with patients to answer questions related to scheduling, insurance, financial policies, and pre- and post-operative instructions. The goal is to ensure patients feel informed and supported from their first call through recovery.

Patients frequently note the kindness, professionalism, and efficiency of the team, as well as the time taken to explain procedures clearly and thoroughly.

      What Patients Can Expect

From consultation through recovery, care at Implant & Oral Surgery of Columbus emphasizes clarity and reassurance. Patients receive individualized treatment planning, detailed explanations of procedures, and clear post-operative guidance.

Dr. Patel is known for personal follow-up after surgery, often checking in with patients directly to support recovery and address concerns. This continuity of care reflects the practice’s belief that patient support extends beyond the surgical appointment itself.

Appointments are managed efficiently while allowing time for questions and education. Comfort, safety, and trust remain central to every interaction.

      Comprehensive Oral Surgery Services

The practice offers a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgical services, including dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, bone grafting, ridge augmentation, sinus lift procedures, oral pathology evaluation, pre-prosthetic surgery, and additional specialty services. Each procedure is approached with careful planning and attention to long-term function and oral health.

Healthy jaw bone structure is essential for oral function, facial support, and long-term dental stability. Evaluation of jaw bone health helps identify bone loss early and guides treatment planning for implants, grafting, or restorative care.

Bone grafting restores missing bone caused by tooth loss, gum disease, or trauma. This surgical procedure encourages new bone growth and creates a stable foundation for future dental implant placement and reconstructive care.

Ridge augmentation rebuilds the alveolar ridge following tooth extraction or significant bone loss. This procedure restores the natural contour of the jaw and supports successful implant placement and aesthetic outcomes.

A sinus lift, also called sinus augmentation, increases bone height in the upper jaw where the maxillary sinus has reduced available bone. This procedure helps prepare the area for dental implants when existing bone is insufficient.

Socket preservation helps limit bone loss immediately following tooth extraction. By placing graft material at the time of extraction, this procedure preserves ridge width and bone volume for future dental procedures.

Wisdom teeth removal addresses impacted or problematic third molars that may cause pain, infection, or damage to surrounding teeth. Early evaluation supports safer removal and reduces the risk of complications.

Pre-prosthetic surgery prepares the mouth and jaw for dentures or other dental prosthetics. This may include bone smoothing, ridge modification, or removal of excess tissue to improve comfort and fit.

Oral pathology involves the evaluation and diagnosis of abnormal tissue in the oral cavity. Early identification of concerning changes supports timely treatment and comprehensive care planning.

Expose and bond procedures help guide impacted canine teeth into proper position as part of orthodontic treatment. This coordinated surgical and orthodontic approach supports proper alignment and long-term function.

A frenectomy releases restrictive tissue attachments that may affect speech, eating, oral hygiene, or orthodontic stability. This procedure is commonly performed for tongue tie or lip tie concerns.

Tori removal addresses benign bony growths on the jaw that may interfere with oral function, dentures, or comfort. Surgical removal helps restore normal contours and improve oral health.

Bone morphogenetic protein is used in select grafting procedures to stimulate new bone formation without harvesting bone from another site. BMP supports healing and reduces donor site discomfort.

BIO PRF uses the patient’s own blood components to support healing, tissue regeneration, and bone growth. This regenerative approach is often used alongside oral surgery and implant procedures.

Oral surgery for children and adolescents is approached with additional care and consideration. Pediatric patients must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and treatment planning is tailored to growth and development needs.

Dental implants provide a long-lasting solution for replacing missing teeth while preserving jawbone health and restoring natural function. Surgically placed beneath the gums, implants create a secure foundation for crowns or other restorations, offering stability, comfort, and a natural appearance. Treatment is carefully planned to support lasting results and overall oral health.
